Avocado consumption in India is increasing every year. Last year, most of the avocados in India were imported from Peru, Chile, and New Zealand through the air in limited quantities, but the entry of Tanzanian avocados has changed the market dynamics. Full container loads of Tanzanian avocados are arriving every week, leading to an oversupply in the market. Compared to Tanzania, New Zealand avocados are seeing muted demand due to high prices even though their quality is better. In W39, the market price of Tanzania avocados is around USD 12.29/ 4kg box, while the market price of NZ avocados is Rs. 45.46/5.5 kg box.
